I recently ran out of the bottle of Mac Face and Body Foundation that I bought back in the summer. While I really liked the finish of it, I didn’t quite enjoy the shade selection. The shade that the Mac assistant had matched me with was definitely the closest one to my own skin tone, but it was still way too orange.
So, I set out on a hunt for a foundation with the following requirements in mind:
- It must be in refillable packaging
- It must have more natural ingredients than Mac Face and Body Foundation
After a ton of research on different foundations, I decided to invest in the Kjaer Weis foundation. I was quite nervous to do so, as it runs for a hefty $80 ($40 for refills).

Overall, a very nice ingredient list!
Can we all just agree on how gorgeous this packaging is?? The reflective casing looks so luxurious, and the way it swivels is so satisfying to me.
The best part of the packaging is that it’s refillable! When you run out, all you have to do is insert a pin through a tiny hole underneath, and the pan pops right out. Then you insert a brand new pan (which is sold in cardboard packaging), and you’re good to go!
How It Wears
In these pictures, I am wearing the shade Illusion. As you can probably tell, it’s slightly too light for me. It works perfectly on the center of my face, but I tend to match foundations to my forehead and neck because those are the darkest areas of my face. On those areas, Illusion looks a bit ashy.
I’m a huge fan of the finish! It looks very natural. It evens out my skin tone and reduces texture. However, people with dry skin, beware! If you have any dry patches, this will emphasize them. Using a facial oil underneath has helped me significantly with this issue. Also be aware that this will not cover everything! As you can see in the photos, my hyperpigmentation still peeks through.
I would definitely recommend this foundation! It is almost perfect in my eyes. The only thing that I wish could be improved is how moisturizing it is, as it clings to patches. Despite that, I believe it is well worth the money! 💸
