Summer vacation is officially underway! As much as I loved this year’s students, I’m glad to have some time to myself. I have big plans for the next couple of months!
My first course of action: catch up on all those Netflix shows that have piled up in my watch list! I’ve slowly been making my way through Outlander, which is a show that has been mentioned A TON by the mori kei community. IT’S. SO. GOOD. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat, the costumes and scenery are gorgeous, and the leading couple’s chemistry is on fire. Just one warning that I wish someone had given me: it gets REALLY dark at the end of season one. I had major trouble sleeping after those episodes.
My second plan for this summer is to curate my wardrobe! After all, I don’t have a dress code to adhere to. I also have more time to reflect on who I am and how I’d like to present myself. And of course, I have more time to go thrift shopping!
I think that today’s outfit is a very good prediction of the direction my collection is heading in. Lately I’ve been fond of wearing long silhouettes with several breezy layers. It’s a good way of keeping the mori look without passing out from the heat. I’ve also found myself reaching for more elegant pieces, rather than the natural, forest inspired look that I did when I first began dressing in mori kei.
Here are the details of my outfit!
Hat: Liz Claiborne, thrifted
Cardigan: no label, gift
Dress: Ralph Lauren, thrifted
Underskirt: no label, Depop, @simplesabal
What are your plans for the summer?
